Calistoga House is a boutique hotel at the top of Napa Valley. The scale is the whole idea: fourteen rooms, one kitchen, two mineral pools, and a terrace that looks straight out over the vines.
Because the house is small, nothing is outsourced to a system. The person who answers your reservation is the person who knows which room catches the morning light and which table on the terrace stays warm longest after sunset.

Vine Rooms
East-facing, with windows that open onto the vine rows. Quietest in the early morning.
Terrace Rooms
A step from the vineyard-view terrace, so breakfast and the last glass of the evening are both outside.
Pool Rooms
Closest to the mineral pools, for guests who intend to be in the water more than once a day.

Mineral water, and a terrace that faces the vines.
Calistoga sits on mineral water, and the pools here are the reason a lot of guests stay a second night. They are part of the house, not an add-on: open to everyone staying, and never crowded, because there are only fourteen rooms to fill them.
The terrace runs along the vineyard side. It is where breakfast happens, where the afternoon goes quiet, and where the restaurant spills out when the evening is warm enough.

A small restaurant, and you are already staying upstairs.
The kitchen is sized to the house. That means a short menu, cooked for the number of people actually here, with the terrace doors open when the weather allows.
Dinner is a walk down one flight of stairs rather than a drive across the valley, which, after a day of tasting rooms, is most of the appeal.
